REVUE REVIEWS: A Chipmunk Reunion

 

This is a weird little special to even bother taking a look at but here we are. This is one of the few times cartoon orphans get to meet their parent(s) and it be a decent episode, and I'll give them credit with this one I like idea in this one unlike Adventure Time.


So on day the boys all argue about which day is their birthday (it seems pretty late for this to be an issue but) and come up with the idea to look for their mom. They head out in the night and off screen tell their Female counterparts to look after Dave while they're gone.

The Boys wander the woods while Dave and the Chipettes try to track them down. While our "Heroes" are dead set on finding their Mother when they get ambushed by a wild boar and tumble down a hill. With the stars being in perfect alignment this week, Alvin and crew get rescued by Aily who is house-sitting for *shock* *gasp* Vinny's house...Vinny is the Chipmunks long lost mother...just the boys though. I feel like this needed a lot more of a run time to flesh out the concept of the boys meeting their Mom, I mean every other asshole they meet gets a movie release.

 Back with Dave and the girls, Britney almost kills herself being a idiot and we see the boys get put to bed and eat breakfast in the morning (Look I'm going over the highlights but the order may vary). It doesn't take long to see that city life is sorely missed by the boys and Alvin still has questions for Mommy dearest.

Alvin, get over yourself!

Vinny explains that a little bit after they were born the Winter got harsh and to keep them from dying she left them with Dave. Not long after Vinny tried to come back for them but couldn't bring herself to separate them from Dave. Okay while a little rushed it does make sense and at least it's not a terrible non explanation other stories like this.

I like how Dave didn't even try

They try to convince Vinny to come back with them in to the City but Alvin runs off forgetting that Wild Boar is still in the area. One thing leads to another and Vinny takes a tumble (She's fine...) and later luck killing the Boar by tricking it off the Cliff.

Dave sees his Boys partying it up and Starts to leave when (So how) Alvin and co. stop him and invite him in for the festivities. They head home and get their birthday presents and the "Episode" ends. Like I said this needed more of a runtime to play around with the idea of "Characters meet long lost parent" but oh well. There is a follow up episode...Unfortunately this franchise has a case of "We didn't Archive Our Show" and every site that has the follow up is in poor condition. I would like to look over Vinny's Visit since like the final episode of Rainbow Brite addresses the events of the Movie or in this case the Special by at least following up on lore like this. Well this sucks.
